MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421033604 A) filed by Institute Of Chemical Technology, Maharashtra, on April 27, 2024, for 'a method for extending shelf-life of dahi, lassi and other milk products.'

Inventor(s) include Abhinav Satish Warrier.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention is related to extending the shelf life of milk/milk products by using the method of fermentation of cow's milk with organic acid to provide the homemade method of preparing the milk/milk product without use of live culture bacteria. The present invention gives more focus on the shelf life of store-bought and homemade milk/ milk products such as dahi/curd, lassi, and buttermilk. Nowadays, in the market, store brought milk/ milk products show 48 hr. shelf life after opening the packet of milk./ milk product but the present invention gives more focus on extending the shelf of milk/ milk products from 48 hr. lo 5 days as well as maintaining the stability of the milk/' milk product."
