MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511123854 A) filed by Noida Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Dec. 9, 2025, for 'a method for evaluation of roots and leaves of bryophyllum pinnatum for antihypertensive.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed herein is a method for evaluation of roots and leaves of bryophyllum pinnatum for antihypertensive (100) comprises collecting and authenticating plant specimens of bryophyllum pinnatum (102). The method also includes subjecting the roots and leaves separately to macroscopic, organoleptic, and microscopic examinations (104). The method also includes powdering the dried roots and leaves and extracting phytoconstituents by successive Soxhlet extraction (106) using one or more solvents. The method also includes determining the phytochemical constituents of the extracts (108) by qualitative screening. The method also includes administering the extracts of the roots and leaves separately (110). The method also includes evaluating acute toxicity by single-dose administration and monitoring behavioral changes (112). The method also includes analyzing the data to compare the pharmacological effects of the root and leaf extracts (114) with control and reference standards."
