MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411025322 A) filed by Amity University, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on March 28, 2024, for 'a method for developing recombinant e. coli dh5a strain.'

Inventor(s) include Manoj Kumar; Sonam Kumari; and Smriti Shrivastava.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a method for developing recombinant E. coli DH5a strain. The present invention discloses an expression construct for heterologous expression of xylanase gene (CUJN21) from Bacillus aerius sp. in Escherichia coli bacterial strain (DH5a). Expression construct (pET-28(a+)-xyn60) has potential of secreting extracellular xylanase, facilitating hydrolysis of extracellular xylan (from pretreated pine needles) to liberate xylose. The DNA construct encodes following structure pET-28(a+)CUJN21."
