MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541033268 A) filed by Dhruv Ranjan, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on April 4, for 'a method for detecting obstacles on a road and a system thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Dhruv Ranjan.
The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An Obstacle Detection and Avoidance System (ODAS) and method for detecting obstacles on a road are disclosed. The proposed system may acquire real-time environmental data from one or more sensors mounted on a moving vehicle. It may then determine the availability of at least one image capturing unit and select a processing mode accordingly utilizing an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based mode when imaging is available, and a threshold-based mode when the imaging is not available. The system may adaptively adjust detection parameters based on vehicle-specific configurations to ensure robust operation across diverse conditions. The acquired data may then be processed using the selected mode and adjusted parameters to detect obstacles, and the system may generate obstacle metadata accordingly. This hybrid approach may thus ensure obstacle detection even under degraded sensor conditions, enhancing vehicle safety and adaptability in real-world scenarios."
