MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541124254 A) filed by Dr. N. Geetha; and Dr. P. S. Shanmugam, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 9, 2025, for 'a method for commercial production of entomophagous fungi on grain substrates under non-sterile conditions.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure proposes a simplified and economical method for the commercial production of entomophagous fungi (EPF) under non-sterile or aseptic conditions while ensuring reliable colonization and efficacy of the fungi. The simplified and economical method for the commercial production of entomophagous fungi (EPF) under non-sterile or aseptic conditions, offering several technical and commercial advantages over conventional fermentation-based methods. The method eliminates the need for laminar air flow chambers, fermenters, and other sterile infrastructure, enabling easy and rapid preparation of EPF on grain substrates. The method can be adopted by cottage industries, cooperatives, or even farmers themselves, democratizing the availability of EPF."
