MUMBAI, India, Jan. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511104691 A) filed by Manipal University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Oct. 30, 2025, for 'a method and system for an adaptive and culturally embedded conversational ai for rural health communication.'
Inventor(s) include Dr Anushka Srivastava; and Dr Avneesh Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a method and system for delivering adaptive, dialect-sensitive, and culturally contextualized health communication through conversational AI. The system comprises a phonetic Algorithmic Layer that recognizes and adapts to phonetic patterns of under-resourced dialects (Awadhi, Bhojpuri, Bundelkhandi, etc.); a dialect switcher that automatically detects the user's dialect and provides responses in the same dialect; a cultural embedding module that utilizes the folk stories, proverbs, and culturally resonant analogies to explain complex medical concepts; a multimodal communication module that integrates speech, pictorial icons, and voice narration for semi-literate users; an emotion-sensitive response engine that adjusts tone and explanations based on user sentiment, promoting trust and reducing anxiety; a knowledge base that servers as a verified medical content repository aligned with public health guidelines (e.g., Ayushman Bharat, WHO). The present invention idea is a multilingual health chatbot that can automatically switch between local dialects (such as Awadhi, Bhojpuri, or Bundelkhandi). Unlike existing platforms, it adds features such as speech-to-speech dialect conversion, responses that adjust to a user's emotions, and cultural models shaped by local communities. This makes the advice both medically accurate and more trusted by users."
