MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541084269 A) filed by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi, Kerala, on Sept. 4, for 'a method and a kit for oral hygiene maintenance in children with autism spectrum disorder.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method and a kit for promoting oral hygiene independence in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It comprises seven integrated components: picture cards for visual sequencing, short instructional videos for demonstration, a powered toothbrush for effective cleaning, an auditory dental talking button for prompts, a colorful calendar for routine tracking, a daily reminder for caregiver support, and any time dental assistance to support the family at time of a dental emergency. The method involves utilizing these components synergistically to guide individuals with ASD through oral hygiene routines, accommodating diverse learning styles and sensory needs, thereby fostering consistent practice and long-term independence in oral hygiene maintenance."
