MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421074956 A) filed by Deere & Company, Moline, U.S.A., on Oct. 4, 2024, for 'a metering unit.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a metering unit (10) for a fertilizer unit (3) associated with a seed dispenser (5). The metering unit (10) has a space defined between a first cover (28) and a second cover (34), a fertilizer pick-up disc (30) dividing the space into a fertilizer accommodating space (18) and a fertilizer dispensing area (21), a plurality of passage (42) defined on the fertilizer pick-up disc (30) communicating an aperture (44) and an associated opening (40) with an inclined plane (46) and an annular ring (48) with a plurality of flow adjuster (32) associated with each of the passage (42). The flow adjuster (32) is linearly displaceable between to vary operation area of the aperture (44) corresponding to the type of seed dispensed from the seed dispenser (5)."
