Inventor(s) include Sarthak Shukla; Sujith Unnikrishnan; and Sriram Sakthivelu.

The application for the patent was published on May 30, under issue no. 22/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A mechanism to ensure styling surface continuity (108) between bumper (102) and tailgate/trunk lid (104) in a vehicle includes slider (106) configured with a bumper (102) of the vehicle, which is configured to move between an extended position and a retracted position. The slider (106) is configured to move to the extended position upon detection of closure of the tailgate/trunk lid (104), and when in the extended position, the slider (106) ensure styling surface continuity (108) between the bumper (102) and the tailgate/trunk lid (104). Movement of the slider (106) between the extended position and the retracted position is facilitated by proximity sensors (110) integrated with a latch mechanism of the tailgate/trunk lid (104); a control unit (114) and an actuator (116) coupled to the slider (106) to move the slider (106)."
