MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511124369 A) filed by Mr. Himanshu Minotra; Mr. Varun Singh; and Mrs. Kiran Sharma, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on Dec. 9, 2025, for 'a mechanical gearbox-based solar panel sun tracking system for maximum energy utilization.'
Inventor(s) include Mr. Himanshu Minotra; Mr. Varun Singh; and Mrs. Kiran Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a mechanical gearbox-based sun tracking system for solar panels designed to enhance energy utilization by continuously aligning the solar panel with the apparent movement of the sun. The system comprises a solar panel mounted on a supporting structure and mechanically coupled to a multi-stage spur gear gearbox driven by a gear motor. The gearbox progressively reduces the input rotational speed to an extremely low output speed suitable for solar tracking applications. A tracking shaft connected to the output of the gearbox enables controlled angular movement of the solar panel throughout the day without the use of electronic sensors or complex control systems. The system further includes shafts, pillow bearings, and a rechargeable battery for energy storage. The proposed invention offers a reliable, low-maintenance, and cost-effective solution for improving solar energy harvesting efficiency through precise mechanical sun tracking."
