MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511126277 A) filed by Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Dec. 13, 2025, for 'a marine algal metabolites composition.'

Inventor(s) include Vijay Kumar; and Vivek Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a marine algal metabolite's composition comprising bioactive compounds extracted from marine algae, including polysaccharides, carotenoids, phytosterols, polyphenols, and alkaloids, and a purified metabolite fraction produced by sequential pre-processing, solvent extraction, and chromatographic purification. An optional nano-encapsulation carrier, selected from liposomes, polymeric nanoparticles, or alginate-based microspheres, can be utilized and modified with specific ligands for receptor-mediated endocytosis on neuronal cells. Additional components such as a stabilizer and bioactivity enhancer may be admixed with the purified blend during nano-encapsulation. The composition is prepared through systematic collection, washing, drying, milling, and extraction of marine algae, and is applicable in a targeted delivery system for treating neurodegenerative diseases by releasing the bioactive compounds at neuronal pathology sites."
