MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541133561 A) filed by Dr. Mahalingam, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 30, 2025, for 'a manually operated chain driven precision seed planting machine.'

Inventor(s) include Mr. Sreejith S Nair; Dr. D. Nathan; and Dr. M. Jayaraj.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention is a seed planting machine that can be used by hand for farming. The machine has a frame, drive wheels that touches the ground, a handle for pushing it by hand, a seed hopper, a housing for the seed metering mechanism, a tube for delivering seeds, a furrow opener and a furrow closure. A chain drive assembly connects the driving wheel to the seed metering mechanism, allowing the machine's forward movement to engage the metering mechanism and spread seeds into a furrow made in the soil. This concept permits controlled seed placement without the use of external power sources and would be suitable for small-scale and manual farming operations."
