MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621008075 A) filed by St. Vincent Pallotti College Of Engineering And Technology, Nagpur, Maharashtra, on Jan. 27, for 'a manually operated cam-driven dual-action press for manufacturing metal washers.'
Inventor(s) include Kolharkar, Shantanu Narayan; Bhujade, Nikita Ramesh; Nimje, Abhi Uttamrao; Thamke, Sankoch Rajanand; Patil, Shreyash Vinod; and Pandey, Rishi Santosh.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention is related to a manually operated cam-driven dual-action press for manufacturing metal washers, particularly suited for small-scale and household industries. The device comprises a rigid frame (1) supporting a cam shaft (3) actuated by a manual lever handle (2). Two independently profiled cams, namely a first cam (4) and a second cam (5), are mounted on the cam shaft (3) and operate corresponding follower mechanisms (6). The followers actuate a blanking punch (7) and a punching punch (8), which cooperate respectively with a blanking die (9) and a punching die (10) mounted on a work table (11). The arrangement enables sequential punching of an inner hole and blanking of an outer profile of a washer in a single stroke. A dead weight (12) is provided above the punch assembly to assist in generating the required shearing force. The invention eliminates the need for electrical or hydraulic power, offering a compact, low-cost, and energy-efficient solution for localized washer production."
