MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631015866 A) filed by Dr. Harinandan Kumar, Ranchi, Jharkhand, on Feb. 12, for 'a machine for testing wear of a rock cutting tool.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Harinandan Kumar; and Dr. Vivek Kumar Kashi.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A machine (100) for testing wear of a rock cutting tool (1) is disclosed. The machine comprises a rigid frame including a base supporting plate (14) and a top static plate (7) interconnected by at least one vertical supporting column (12). A movable base plate (10) is axially displaceable along the vertical supporting column (12) and carries a specimen vice assembly having a fixed jaw (9), a movable jaw (20), a vice base (19), and a handle (18) for securing a test specimen. A tool holding assembly with an adjustable collet-based holder (2) secures the rock cutting tool (1) and is operatively coupled to an electric motor (3) mounted to the top static plate (7) for imparting rotational motion. A hydraulic load application system including a hydraulic ram (11), ram cylinder (13), and hydraulic pump (16) with lever handle (17) produces axial displacement of the movable base plate (10)."
