MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641018616 A) filed by Agathiya Elevatex, Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 18, for 'a load monitoring device for forklifts and an operating method thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Baskar Sethupathi.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an IoT-based smart forklift safety and load monitoring system mounted on an existing forklift machine (1) to enhance operational safety during load handling. The system comprises a pressure sensor (22) mounted on a main hydraulic line (9) for sensing hydraulic pressure corresponding to an applied load, a proximity sensor (21) for monitoring lifting height of a fork assembly (6), and tilt sensors (23a, 23b) for detecting tilt angle of a mast (3). The sensed signals are processed by an electronic control unit with display and inbuilt speaker (25) configured to convert pressure into load value, compare load, height, and tilt parameters with predefined safety thresholds, and provide real-time visual and audible alerts upon detection of unsafe operating conditions. The system further supports wireless data transmission to a server or cloud platform (26) for remote monitoring and data logging. The invention is designed to be retrofittable to existing forklifts without structural modification, thereby improving safety, reliability, and monitoring efficiency in industrial environments."
