MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311087917 A) filed by Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research, New Delhi, on Dec. 21, 2023, for 'a lightweight blast mat for muffling blast holes and controlling flyrock in near-field blasting.'
Inventor(s) include More Ramulu; Partho Biswapati Choudhury; Saurav Rukhaiyar; Banti Kumar Dhar; and Abdur Rahman.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A device and method of blast mat for the novel, safe and productive controlled blasting, which comprises an assembly of piece of conveyor belt, a magnetic locking system, looped ends of four numbers of wire ropes spread on the periphery of the rectangular blast are, two looped wire ropes for diagonal tightening of blast mat and an inclined borehole for inserting anchor bolts and a magnet for unlocking the joints of belts, is placed on top of the blast holes for controlling flyrock and air overpressure. The present invention provides a novel, productive, cost-effective, and safe method for controlling flyrock for near-field as well as far-field distances."
