MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421008132 A) filed by Tata Motors Limited, Maharashtra, on Feb. 6, 2024, for 'a light deflection device for a headlamp unit of a vehicle and a vehicle thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Kamalprasad Vaidya; and Arpit Chaudhary.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure discloses a light deflection device (2) for a headlamp unit (201). The light deflection device (2) comprises a base plate (21) connectable to a reflector (201a) of the headlamp unit (200). The light deflection device (2) comprises at least one actuator (22) disposed on the base plate (21) and at least one deflector (23) operatively coupled to the actuator (22). The control unit (3) actuates the at least one actuator (22) to selectively displace the at least one deflector (23) into the reflector (201a) to deflect the light beam of the vehicle (200) based on light intensity from an oncoming vehicle B. With such configuration, the light deflection device (2) automatically deflects light on to an oncoming vehicle B to avoid blinding of drivers without reduction in illumination of path and further such light deflection device B may be retrofit to headlamp units (201) of existing vehicles."
