MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311084940 A) filed by Shoolini University Of Biotechnology And Management Sciences, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, on Dec. 13, 2023, for 'a lactose- free enriched food product and process for preparing the same.'
Inventor(s) include Manisha Kumari; Dr. Pankaj Kumar Chauhan; Prafull Chavan; Dr. Kanika Dulta; Madhu Gaidher; and Dr. Vinod Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a cost-effective method and composition for making tofu with Tinospora cordifolia as the main ingredient. It relates to a nutritious, and healthy tofu suitable for regular consumption, particularly as it provides the best source for protein to boost immunity. The tofu exhibits an antioxidant activity of 65.83%. The present exhibits a yield of 1.18. Furthermore, the present tofu contains a phenolic content of 205.49 mg and a flavonoid content of 200.03mg. This nutritious tofu, in addition to its protein and immunity-boosting benefits, further demonstrates enhanced properties, including increased shelf stability, medicinal properties, and richness in antioxidant content."
