MUMBAI, India, June 16 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611054459 A) filed by Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on April 29, for 'a isotonic saline administration kit for shankh prakshalan gastrointestinal cleansing.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to the technical field of gastrointestinal cleansing apparatuses and methods and provides a standardized isotonic saline administration kit and method for Shankh Prakshalan cleansing. The kit comprises a precision spoon calibrated to deliver 3.6 g 0.05 g sodium chloride and an administration jug with a 400 ml fill-line marking and a thermal indicator band operative within 36 C-40 C. The method includes dissolving the measured salt in water to form a 0.9% w/v isotonic solution, ingesting the solution in repeated cycles, each followed by predefined yogic movements to stimulate peristalsis, and continuing until clear effluent is observed. The process concludes with a defined rest period and a post-procedure dietary protocol. The invention ensures safe, reproducible, and non-pharmacological gastrointestinal cleansing without electrolyte imbalance."
