The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a hybrid, automated self-cleaning mechanism for photovoltaic (PV) panels that combines controlled mechanical vibration with electrostatic dust repulsion to remove accumulated dust and particulate contaminants. The system comprises vibration- generating units mounted on the panel frame, a plurality of electrostatic electrodes integrated with or positioned near the transparent surface of the PV panel, sensors for detecting dust accumulation or performance degradation, and a control unit for coordinated operation. Upon detection of reduced power output or excessive dust deposition, the control unit activates the vibration units to induce surface oscillations that loosen adhered particles, followed by or simultaneous with activation of an electrostatic field that repels and removes the loosened particles from the panel surface. The proposed mechanism operates without water, brushes, or manual intervention, requires minimal auxiliary power, and can be powered directly from the PV panel itself. The invention enhances cleaning efficiency, reduces maintenance costs, and improves long-term energy yield, making it suitable for rooftop, utility-scale, and harsh environmental photovoltaic installations."
