MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621022857 A) filed by Rajarambapu Institute Of Technology, Walwa, Maharashtra, on Feb. 26, for 'a hybrid mechanical-electronic intelligent plug adapter with safety, usage profiling, and secure energy logging.'

Inventor(s) include Aditya Sikandar Gidde; Shailesh Shubhash Ringane; Prajitabh Kaustubh Dhongade; Atharv Harishchandra Kore; Aditya Amit More; Prof. Amol Chavan; and Prof. Ansar Mulla.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A Hybrid Mechanical-Electronic Intelligent Plug Adapter with Safety, Usage Profiling, and Secure Energy Logging This invention describes a hybrid mechanical-electronic intelligent 3-pin plug adapter system for controlled and accountable electrical power delivery is disclosed. The system integrates a mechanically actuated timing mechanism that autonomously limits power supply duration independent of electronic control, thereby providing baseline fail-safe operation. An electronic supervisory layer performs real-time thermal monitoring and enforces automatic disconnection upon detection of unsafe temperature conditions. Electrical energy consumption is measured and recorded through an integrated metering arrangement, with usage data being cryptographically signed, time-stamped, and wirelessly transmitted to an external monitoring platform. An adaptive usage profiling algorithm analyzes historical consumption patterns to generate appliance-specific duration recommendations. Continued operation beyond preset limits requires a secure dual-mode override involving both physical actuation and authenticated digital authorization. The system further incorporates tamper detection and socket retention mechanisms, with energy harvesting functionality sustaining monitoring and communication during standby states. The invention is particularly suited for shared environments requiring enforceable time-limited access, enhanced fire safety, and traceable energy accountability."
