MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441031582 A) filed by Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited, Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, on April 20, 2024, for 'a hinge for tailgate of a vehicle.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a hinge (100) for a tailgate of a vehicle, comprising: a first hinge member (102) and a second hinge member (104), wherein the first hinge member (102) and the second hinge member (104) are pivoted by a hinge pin (106). The second hinge member (104) comprises: a first portion (108) having a first mass; a second portion (110) having a second mass, wherein the first portion (108) and second portion (110) are laterally separated by an axis (112) passing though the mid-point of the hinge pin (106); the first mass is different than the second mass; and the axis (112) passing through the mid-point of the hinge pin (106) and the axis passing through the centre of gravity (CG) (114) of the second hinge member (104) are substantively parallel to each other and are laterally offset by a distance "d"."
