MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311087864 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 21, 2023, for 'a hinge assembly for a door of a vehicle.'
Inventor(s) include Mohan Sekar; Parag Porwal; Sascha Webers; and Sainath Reddy Maramreddy.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A hinge assembly for a door of a vehicle is disclosed. The hinge assembly (100) comprises a first link (104) to be fixed to a body structure (102) of the vehicle, a second link (108) to be fixed to the door (106) of the vehicle, and a hinge mechanism coupled between the first and the second links (104, 108). The hinge mechanism comprises an intermediate link (112), a first hinge (110) coupling the first link (104) to the intermediate link (112), and a second hinge (114) coupling the second link (108) to the intermediate link (112). The first hinge (110) is configured to allow rotary movement of the intermediate link (112) relative to the first link (104) till a door opening of 180. The second hinge (114) is configured to allow rotary movement of the second link (108) relative to the intermediate link (112) from a door opening of 180 till 270."
