MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521134585 A) filed by Divya Anil Nair; Sanjay Satyanarayan Bang; and Poonam Pratap Nathani, Lavasa, Maharashtra, on Dec. 31, 2025, for 'a gender-neutral smart complaint registration system for bias-resilient legal intake and immutable complaint recording.'
Inventor(s) include Divya Anil Nair; Sanjay Satyanarayan Bang; and Poonam Pratap Nathani.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a gender-neutral smart complaint registration kiosk designed to eliminate structural bias at the initial stage of legal complaint intake. The system integrates a self-service hardware terminal with a guided, behaviour-based intake engine that captures legally relevant offence elements without reliance on gendered assumptions. The invention generates a tamper-evident and immutable complaint identifier using cryptographic hashing and timestamping, providing verifiable proof of complaint submission. An accountable workflow is enforced wherein acceptance, refusal, or delay in complaint processing requires structured justification and supports automated supervisory escalation. The system further supports both anonymised and verified identity modes with explicit consent and privacy controls. By minimising discretionary narrative alteration and enabling auditable complaint handling, the invention improves procedural fairness, data integrity, and access to justice. The system is scalable for deployment across police stations, legal aid centres, and public grievance redressal mechanisms."
