Abstract: The present invention relates to a Functionally Graded Hybrid Fibre Reinforced Concrete (FGHFRC) flexural member with controlled fibre distribution and an integrated Smart Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) system for enhancing the structural performance, durability, and service life of reinforced concrete members. The invention employs a functionally graded arrangement of hybrid fibres, wherein different types and volume fractions of reinforcing fibres are strategically distributed across the depth of the flexural member according to the anticipated stress profile. A higher concentration of steel and/or macro synthetic fibres is provided in the tension zone to improve tensile strength, crack resistance, ductility, and energy absorption, while a balanced combination of hybrid fibres is incorporated in the transition zone and a reduced fibre content is provided in the compression zone to optimize material utilization. The flexural member further incorporates embedded SHM components comprising fibre optic senso
