MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641008872 A) filed by Dr. R. Nithyatharani; Dr. Deepa V H; Inbavalli R; Dr. T. Yasodha; Dr. G. Priya; Dr. Subhasree Ray; and Dr. R. Manikandan, Trichy, Tamil Nadu, on Jan. 29, for 'a fortified spirulina-based nutritional composition as a protein supplement.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The system (100) includes a fortified spirulina-based nutritional composition as a protein supplement comprising a spirulina protein base (102), a complementary protein source (104), a micronutrient fortification unit (106), a flavor and palatability enhancement unit (108), a bioavailability enhancement unit (110), and a stabilization and preservation unit (112), wherein the spirulina protein base (102) provides algal-derived protein, the complementary protein source (104) improves amino acid balance, the micronutrient fortification unit (106) enhances nutritional value, the flavor and palatability enhancement unit (108) improves taste, the bioavailability enhancement unit (110) increases nutrient absorption, and the stabilization and preservation unit (112) ensures shelf stability and safety. The invention enhances nutritional completeness and promotes sustainable, high-quality protein supplementation."
