MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621006472 A) filed by Kolte, Abhay; Bawankar, Pranjali; Kolte, Rajashri; Gattani, Ritika; and Ranjeet Deshmukh Dental College And Research Centre, Nagpur, Maharashtra, on Jan. 22, for 'a formulation and process for preparation of a vitamin d3 enriched injectable bone regenerative paste.'

Inventor(s) include Kolte, Abhay; Bawankar, Pranjali; Kolte, Rajashri; Gattani, Ritika; Raut, Neha; and Umekar, Milind.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention is related to a formulation and process for preparation of a vitamin D3 enriched injectable bone regenerative paste. The formulation comprises Vitamin D3 as an osteogenic and immunomodulatory agent, calcium phosphate and calcium carbonate as osteoconductive biomaterials, and biocompatible polymers gelatin and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose for viscosity control and structural stability. The paste is syringeable and injectable, enabling minimally invasive placement and complete filling of irregular periodontal and alveolar bone defects. Localized delivery of Vitamin D3 enhances osteogenesis, bone remodeling, and periodontal tissue healing at the defect site while minimizing systemic exposure. The biomimetic composite system provides controlled degradation, sustained local activity, and improved mechanical handling and retention. The formulation overcomes limitations of existing bone grafts and biologic-based regenerative systems by offering improved adaptability, bioactivity, and cost effectiveness. The invention is suitable for use in periodontal therapy, alveolar ridge preservation, peri-implant defect management, and dental applications in clinical dental practice."
