MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641064010 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on May 21, for 'a foldable service trolley with compartment system and method of operating the same.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a foldable service trolley with a telescopic compartment system is disclosed, comprising a base frame, opposed vertical side frames, and a plurality of shelf assemblies supported by bottom undermount slide assemblies. The slide assemblies enable controlled telescopic extension and retraction between an expanded operational configuration and a compact folded configuration, and incorporate hydraulic soft-close damping mechanisms to ensure smooth, noise-reduced movement. A locking mechanism, including a cam-based arrangement at a terminal extension zone, secures the trolley in the expanded state to maintain rigidity and load stability, while allowing manual disengagement for controlled folding. The structure facilitates efficient load transfer through the side frames and base frame, with the slide assemblies primarily providing guided deployment and positional stabilization. The trolley maintains shelf alignment during operation and enables safe, stable, and space-efficient handling of service loads."
