MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411076423 A) filed by Motilal Nehru National Institute Of Technology, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on Oct. 9, 2024, for 'a flame-retardant spacer for battery module and a method of preparation thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a flame-retardant spacer (100) for battery module that is mechanically stable and a method of preparation thereof. The flame-retardant spacer (100) comprises a cuboidal body (1) with at least one central circular region (2) for holding a cell (3). The cuboidal body (1) have curved outer surfaces (4) to create an inter spacer gap (5). The flame-retardant spacer (100) comprises a groove (6) and a protrusion (7) arrangement at each corner of said flame-retardant spacer (100) to facilitate the interlocking of the spacer with other spacer."
