MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541134197 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Hyderabad, Telangana, on Dec. 31, 2025, for 'a fault protection system for a dual battery electric vehicle.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure discloses a fault protection system (101) for a dual battery Electric Vehicle (EV) (100). The fault protection system (101) comprises a sensing unit (102) and a control unit (104). The control unit (104) is configured to receive an input indicative of at least one of the detected temperatures, the detected fire in the primary battery (106) and the secondary battery (108), or the detected crash of the dual battery EV (100). Further, the control unit (104) is configured to compare the detected temperatures with threshold temperatures of the primary battery (106) and the secondary battery (108). Furthermore, the control unit (104) is configured to isolate the primary battery (106) and the secondary battery (108) from a High-Voltage (HV) bus (112), respectively, based on at least one of the comparison, the detected fire, or the crash of the dual battery EV (100)."
