MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631043294 A) filed by Dr. Sudhir Chandrasur Institute Of Technology And Sports Complex, Kolkata, West Bengal, on April 4, for 'a dual-function smartphone case incorporating a wallet structure.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Arpita Mandal; and Soham Chatterjee.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a Smartphone protective case having an integrated wallet and lightweight structural configuration. The case comprises an outer protective casing and an intermediate thin layer, the intermediate layer serving as a base for a box-type wallet compartment formed on a rear surface of the case while excluding a rear camera region. The wallet compartment houses a plurality of fan-shaped flexible pockets, one side of which is fixed to the intermediate layer and the opposite side attached to an inner surface of a wallet cover, enabling organized storage and easy access to cards, currency, and small personal items. Remaining portions of the case are formed as hollow regions incorporating a honeycomb structure to reduce weight, enhance impact resistance, and improve thermal dissipation, while maintaining a flush external profile and full functionality of the Smartphone."
