MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641048379 A) filed by Sona College Of Technology, Salem, Tamil Nadu, on April 16, for 'a drainage blockage detection system.'
Inventor(s) include Ravikumar V; Madhankumar S; Ruthran T; and Kathiravan R.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a drainage blockage detection system for monitoring drainage conduits and identifying obstruction conditions in real time. The system comprises a water level sensing unit and a flow sensing unit configured to generate time-stamped drainage parameter data. An embedded processing unit receives and processes the sensed data to compute deviation values relative to baseline drainage conditions and to generate a blockage indicator signal based on combined evaluation of the deviation values over a monitoring interval. A communication module transmits blockage-related alert data to a remote monitoring platform for maintenance action. The system operates in an autonomous and energy-efficient manner and is suitable for deployment in underground drainage and sewer networks. The invention enables early detection of drainage blockages, reduces manual inspection requirements, and improves flood prevention and infrastructure maintenance."
