MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521128929 A) filed by Symbiosis International, Pune, Maharashtra, on Dec. 18, 2025, for 'a double-shutter internal formwork system for pile head de-bonding and chipping elimination.'
Inventor(s) include Humera Khanum; Sathwik Reddy; Farhan Shaikh; Krunal Dhanani; Rohal Patil; Raviraj Chuddasama; and Parth Raichur.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A double-shutter internal formwork system (100) prevents concrete bonding to pile reinforcement at cutoff level in bored cast-in-situ piles. The system includes: a top plate (101) as an annular ring overhanging the pile casing to admit tremie pipe and hopper; an intermediate sleeve (102) fitting radially inside the reinforcement cage without bar contact; and a bottom plate (103) coupled to the sleeve with oval cut-outs sized for bar diameter plus 10-30 mm tolerances and hydrophilic/silicone sealing at bar-plate gaps. During tremie concreting with overflow above cutoff, the assembly maintains a watertight barrier, enabling post-curing removal to expose clean, unbonded reinforcement for pile cap embedment. The reusable steel design eliminates conventional chipping, reducing time, labor, cost, and risks versus pneumatic breakers or hydraulic systems, with modular features adapting to site-specific reinforcement layouts in infrastructure projects."
