MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541134377 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Hyderabad, Telangana, on Dec. 31, 2025, for 'a dinuclear copper(i) n-heterocyclic carbene complex and a method for preparation thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Ganesan Prabusankar; Gopendra Muduli; Subramaniyam Kalaivanan; and Sivakumar Vaidyanathan.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present subject discloses a dinuclear copper(I) N-heterocyclic carbene (Cu-NHC) complex having the chemical structure formula 1, Formula 1 The present subject matter also relates to a method of preparing the same comprising the steps of mixing a ligand with potassium tert-butoxide (tBuOK) in acetonitrile to a form a mixture followed by addition of copper iodide under argon atmosphere, and stirring the mixture at a temperature range of 80 C to 90 C for 1-3 hours to form the Cu-NHC complex."
