MUMBAI, India, Jan. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511104536 A) filed by Mahatma Gandhi University Of Medical Sciences And Technology, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Oct. 29, 2025, for 'a digitally guided dental drill with real-time process monitoring.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a digitally guided dental drilling device (100) for precise and real-time visible dental drilling procedures. The device (100) comprises a handpiece (105) with multiple control switches, including a power button (110), a LED button (115) and a scanner button (120). A detachable drilling head (155) and scanner nozzle (160) equipped with a laser projector (160L) enable interchangeable mechanical drilling and three-dimensional scanning of tooth surfaces. The device (100) additionally integrates a camera (130) and LED (light emitting diode) light (135) for real-time imaging and illumination. A water injection system (125) comprising multiple outlets surrounding detachable drilling head (155) for cooling, a motor (150) connected with processor A (145) for driving the drilling head (155), and a battery (140) for power supply. Scanned data is processed by processor B (165) to generate a digital guidance overlay visualized on the display (170) improving dental treatment."
