MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311082590 A) filed by Birla Institute Of Technology & Science, Pilani, Rajasthan, on Dec. 4, 2023, for 'a device with miniaturized, 3d-printing and interdigitated two electrode system for biomarker detection.'

Inventor(s) include R N Ponnalagu; Goel Sanket; Nair Parvathy; and Amreen Khairunnisa.

The application for the patent was published on June 6, under issue no. 23/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a device which is having a miniaturized, 3D- printing and interdigitated two electrode system for biomarker detection. The present invention illustrates the fabrication of a simplistic 3D printing technique using electrically conductive composite PLA material and the chemical characterization can be done using both cyclic voltammetry and Impedance spectroscopy. It is low-cost, concise, disposable, miniaturized, and lightweight compared to the existing expensive equipment and highly suitable for the low power applications. The device is successfully tested for the detection of cardiac troponin I in the blood serum sample."
