MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311087728 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 21, 2023, for 'a device for cleaning a bonnet of a vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Srikanth Venkatesh; and Mayuri Kirve.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A device for cleaning a bonnet of a vehicle, the device (100) includes at least one wiper (102) configured for pivotal movement to create a wiping action to clean an upper surface of the bonnet (104). The wiper (104) and spindle (106) of the wiper (102) are located under the bonnet (104), and when required for cleaning action. The wiper (102) emerges from a parked position under the bonnet 104 to a deployed position over the bonnet (104). The device includes air nozzle (102-2) to direct a pressurized air jet to bonnet (104) at locations not covered by the wiper. A camera captures real time images of the bonnet (104). A control unit (116) processes the images to detect presence of undesired objects on the bonnet, and automatically controls operation of the wiper and the nozzle till the bonnet is devoid of any undesired objects."
