MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411076476 A) filed by Lg Electronics Inc., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on Oct. 9, 2024, for 'a defrosting assembly for a refrigerator.'

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A defrosting assembly 100 for a refrigerator is disclosed. Further, an induction coil 102 affixed at a predetermined distance below an evaporator coil 104, for generating a pre-defined amount of heat, for melting of frost present on the evaporator coil 104 of the refrigerator. Further, a heating plate 106 positioned between the induction coil 102 and the evaporator coil 104 at a predetermined distance to collect the melted frost in form of water and facilitates evaporation of collected water from the heating plate 106 due to heat transfer from the induction coil 102."
