MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621041407 A) filed by Beni Aerospace Private Limited, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on March 31, for 'a convertible vertical take-off and landing aircraft and method of operation thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Shubham Beniwal.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a convertible vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft (100) and a method of operation thereof. The aircraft comprises an integrated wing-rotor unit featuring morphing wings (106) and a main rotor assembly. To transition into forward flight, the control system (200) coordinates a tilt joint assembly (107) to rotate the unit horizontally, transferring lift to the wings while a propulsion system (111) provides forward thrust. At optimal speeds, the symmetrical rotor blades (102) stop and sweep backward. An extendable claw mechanism (108) having interlocking slots (108f) securely catches blade strikers (108e) on the stopped blades. This claw grip permits pitch adjustment, allowing blades to function as active leading-edge flaps, extended wings, or stow within a wing region (109). For supersonic flight, the wings and locked blades sweep rearward into a delta-wing configuration, continuously stabilized by closed-loop feedback."
