MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441076393 A) filed by Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, on Oct. 8, 2024, for 'a constant velocity shaft assembly of a vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Devamanalan M; K. Pothiraj; Abdul Azarrudin M. A; and C Murugan.

The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The disclosure herein generally relates to a constant velocity(CV) shaft assembly for a vehicle, and more particularly, to a modular constant velocity shaft assembly. The CV shaft assembly(100) includes a first shaft portion(110) attached to a first CV joint(140) at one end(110-1) of said first shaft portion(110). The first shaft portion (110) comprises a flange portion (105) at another end(110-2). The CV shaft (100) assembly further includes a second shaft portion(120) attached to a second CV joint(150) at one end(120-1). The second shaft portion(120) comprises a casing(122) at another end(120-2). The first shaft portion (110) is adapted to attach or detach from said second shaft portion(120). The casing(122) receives said flange portion(105) of said first shaft portion (110). The CV shaft assembly provides the flexibility to change the damper during development phase of the vehicle and reduces the lead time for testing the NVH performance of the vehicle."
