MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521115959 A) filed by Symbiosis International, Pune, Maharashtra, on Nov. 21, 2025, for 'a computer-implemented system and method for assessing awareness toward microplastic pollution.'

Inventor(s) include Mrs. Manisha Mistry; and Dr. S. G. Joshi.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a computer-implemented system (100) and method (200) for assessing awareness, ignorance, and behavioural response toward microplastic pollution among a population. The system includes a user interface module (101) configured to collect quantitative and qualitative responses from user devices, and a data acquisition and preprocessing module (102) for cleaning and encoding the received data. An analytics engine (103) comprising a quantitative analysis sub-module (103a) and a qualitative analysis sub-module (103b) computes awareness indices and extracts sentiment and thematic patterns using a natural language processing model. A hybrid correlation module (104) integrates both analyses to generate a composite ignorance index, while a machine learning prediction module (105) classifies behavioural response categories. A visualization and reporting module (106) displays awareness maps and behavioural clusters through an interactive dashboard, enabling application in environmental policy, education, and awareness assessment initiatives."
