MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617007657 A) filed by Caranx Medical Sas, Paris, on Jan. 27, for 'a computer implemented method, a computer program product, a computer-readable storage medium, a use of the computer implemented method, and a system to execute the steps of the method.'

Inventor(s) include Mira, Anna; Wei, Wen; Berthet-Rayne, Pierre; and Smits, Jonas Victor Harmen.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a computer implemented method for determining a position and/or an orientation of a valve component or a valve annulus component, preferably the annular ring (2) of a heart valve, in particular during an implantation of a heart valve prosthesis (3), comprising the steps of (i) receiving at least one first image (4) and at least one second image (5) of a moving heart via an input interface, in particular in real-time, (ii) identifying at least one first feature (7) indicative of a position and/or an orientation of the valve component or the valve annulus component and at least one second feature (8) in the at least one first image (4) using a data processing unit (6), (iii) determining at least one static or dynamic geometric relationship between the at least one first feature (7) and the at least one second feature (8) based on a localization of the first and second features (7, 8) in the at least one first image (4), using the data processing unit (6), identifying the at least one second feature in the at least one second image (5) using the data processing unit (6), (iv) determining a modified position and/or orientation (20) of the valve component or the valve annulus component in the at least one second image (5) based on the at least one second feature (8), the at least one static or dynamic geometric relationship, and a static or dynamic geometric relationship model, and (v) transmitting the modified position and/or orientation (20) of the valve component or the valve annulus component to an output interface."

The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 09, 2024, under International application No.PCT/EP2024/078411.
