MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511116681 A) filed by Graphic Era, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Nov. 25, 2025, for 'a composition for internal curing of high-strength concrete using polyacrylamide-based superabsorbent polymer and an associated method of application.'
Inventor(s) include Sufiyan Mirza; Bheem Pratap; Dhanjay Singh Shyamal; and Zishan Raza Khan.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention pertains to the field of high-strength concrete technology and provides a concrete composition and associated method for internal curing. The composition comprises a cementitious binder (e.g., Portland Pozzolana Cement), fine aggregate, coarse aggregate (e.g., crushed angular stone), and a polyacrylamide-based superabsorbent polymer (SAP) gel pre-swollen in a first portion of mixing water, wherein the SAP gel, containing hydrophilic polymer chains, absorbs water up to about 50 times its weight and gradually releases it during hydration. Additionally, a polycarboxylate ether-based superplasticizer ensures workability. In the method, mixing water is partitioned to pre-swell the SAP and to hydrate the binder, with subsequent uniform dispersion, casting, and compaction of the concrete mix."
