MUMBAI, India, Jan. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511104871 A) filed by Graphic Era, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Oct. 30, 2025, for 'a composition and method for applying a micro/nano-engineered coating for aerodynamic stability of aircraft wings.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Chandra Kishore; and Dr. Sudhir Joshi.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an aerodynamic coating system for aircraft wings (10) and pertains to the field of aerospace engineering. The system comprises a composite material matrix (30) formed from a polymer-ceramic blend incorporating ceramic particulates and a selected synthetic resin, an adhesion layer (20) applied to the substrate (10) after surface preparation, and a plurality of micro- and nano-scale surface features (40) embedded therein, with hydrophobic additives (50) uniformly dispersed in the matrix. Employing a scalable deposition technique, such as thermal spraying, the invention enables controlled templating of surface features and effective bonding via chemical agents in the adhesion layer (20), thereby enhancing aerodynamic stability."
