MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411003975 A) filed by The Secretary, Ministry Of Electronics And Information Technology, Government Of India; and The Director General, Centre For Materials For Electronics Technology, New Delhi, on Jan. 19, 2024, for 'a composite positive electrode of lithium-ion capacitor and process thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Kollannoor, Stanly Jacob; Narayanapanicker, Rani Panicker; and Abraham, Abraham Poovakulathu.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure generally relates to the field of secondary electrochemical energy storage devices. Specifically, the present disclosure relates to a composite positive electrode of lithium-ion capacitor and a process to prepare the composite positive electrode and lithium-ion capacitor thereof. The composite positive electrode of lithium-ion capacitor comprises: a carbon aerogel as supercapacitor electrode material comprising mixture of mesopores and micropores; and an air stable lithium sacrificial compound suitable for hazardous free prelithiation of lithium-ion capacitor. Lithium-ion capacitor formed by internally hybridizing high surface area carbon aerogel-based supercapacitor electrode and nonporous low surface area carbon type lithium battery electrode in single device has higher specific energy than supercapacitor and higher specific power than lithium-ion battery and better cycle life and low self discharge property suitable for upcoming energy storage applications."
