MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441068287 A) filed by Novozon Biosolutions Private Limited, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, on Sept. 10, 2024, for 'a compact, low cost device for separation of macromolecules.'
Inventor(s) include Reshmi Paramasivan.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a compact, low cost device for separation of macromolecules including DNA and RNA with minimal usage of reagents. The device of the present invention comprises of rectangular shaped structure having two rectangular cavities with cavity I disposed on left side and cavity II disposed on bottom of the right side. The invention is characterized in that a. the cavity I is adapted to receive buffer solution; b. a positive (Anode) and a negative (Cathode) electrodes disposed at each end of cavity I and connect to a power supply via connecting means; c. the connecting means adapted to run from the cavity I and through the cavity II via a power pack circuit, connected to the power supply as PLUG and PLAY model; d. a removable boat shaped gel casting tray adapted to be positioned in the cavity I for receiving electrophoresis agarose gel."
