MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511117930 A) filed by Manipal University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Nov. 27, 2025, for 'a cloud-based ai auditorium seating information system.'

Inventor(s) include Dr Rajesh Handa; and Mrs Poonam Handa.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a Cloud-based artificial intelligence (AI) auditorium seating information system (100) designed to provide real-time monitoring, control, and management of seat occupancy in auditoriums without human intervention. Each seat is equipped with an infrared (IR) sensor that detects whether the seat is occupied or vacant and transmits the signal to a control and monitoring unit via Internet of Things (IoT) communication. The control unit processes the data and commands LED indicators attached to each seat to display green when vacant and red when occupied. The system (100) is further connected to a cloud server, which stores and synchronizes seat-occupancy data, enabling remote access and scalability. A physical dashboard located at the auditorium entrance displays a miniature replica of the seating layout using small LED indicators that mirror the real-time seat status. A mobile application provides a virtual dashboard for administrators and invitees, allowing remote seat monitoring, reservation, and management."
