MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521110537 A) filed by Symbiosis International, Pune, Maharashtra, on Nov. 12, 2025, for 'a closed-loop inventory management system.'
Inventor(s) include Mr. Abhishek Shaji Eyyani; and Dr. Giri G Hallur.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention discloses a closed-loop inventory management system (100) employing real-time data analytics for automated waste reduction and procurement optimization in institutional or contract food service settings. The system includes a smart waste monitoring unit (101) for capturing and categorizing food waste, an inventory tracking unit (102) for monitoring stock levels, and external data sources (103) for contextual inputs like consumption trends. A central logistics engine (104) processes these inputs using a dynamic control algorithm to classify waste as pre-consumer or post-consumer (105). Based on classification, the system autonomously adjusts inventory control parameters (106) or demand forecast parameters (107) and computes a dynamic reorder point (108) to trigger procurement actions. An automated procurement module integrates with supplier systems, while a user interface (109) enables real-time monitoring, reporting, and manual override. The system enhances operational efficiency, reduces food waste, and streamlines procurement."
