MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411005043 A) filed by Illinois Tool Works Inc., Glenview, U.S.A., on Jan. 24, 2024, for 'a bump stopper for a vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Kumar, Ganesh; Gokavi, Mahantesh S; Johnson, Allande; and Deshpande, Shridhar.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A bump stopper (100) for a vehicle is described. The bump stopper (100) comprises a structural portion (102) made of a first material, and a shock- absorbing portion (104) integrally bonded to the structural portion (102). The shock-absorbing portion (104) is made of a second material. The bump stopper (100) exhibits a load deflection behaviour that is an amalgamation of individual load deflection behaviour of the structural portion (102) and individual load deflection behaviour of the shock-absorbing portion (104). At least one of a relative position of the structural portion (102) and the shock- absorbing portion (104) in a structure of the bump stopper (100) and a relative proportion of the structural portion (102) and the shock-absorbing portion (104) in a composition of the bump stopper (100) is determined based on a target load-deflection behaviour of the bump stopper (100)."
