MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311087516 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 21, 2023, for 'a brake caliper.'

Inventor(s) include Sreenivasa Lalyanayak; Karthick Duraisamy; and Vishwas Theertha.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A brake caliper (100) includes a housing (102) having at least one piston bore (104) with an open end (106) and configured to receive a pressurized brake fluid; and at least one piston (108) configured within the at least one piston bore (104) for translatory motion along a longitudinal axis of the piston bore (104) to an extended position under force of the pressurized brake fluid, and return to a withdrawn position substantially within the piston bore (104) under a biasing force. The piston (108) includes a flange portion (108-1) that extends radially around the one end of the piston bore (104) to protect at least one grommet fitted to one or more of the pistons (108) and the housing (102). The at least one grommet includes an inner grommet (112) and an outer grommet (110) that remain resting against each other to prevent ingress of foreign material."
